Active AIAS Chapters — University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

The 2008 Chapter Honor Award was awarded to AIAS University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The continued growth and success of the chapter, the financial stability, its incredible support of the FORUM 2007 convention and the chapter’s many public and community events were highly praised by the jury. In his letter of support, Dean Robert Greenstreet wrote, "The [School] has been greatly enhanced because of the service, dedication and enthusiasm of its AIAS chapter." He continued, "The organization is an asset to the school and continues to help us set into motion programs that will benefit student learning experiences far into the future."

Start A Chapter

The AIAS conducts much of its activity within the local chapters where student concerns and first hand experiences may be addressed most effectively. Student chapters are chartered at colleges and universities that offer pre-professional, para-professional, or professional programs in architecture, or at high schools.

The requirements for an AIAS chapter include recognition from the host institution; payment of the appropriate dues; submission of all membership materials; and the designation of a student contact (i.e., the chapter president). Chapters in their first year are exempt from paying the annual chapter dues (currently $275).

Recruitment Resources

As it is for any other organization, one of the ongoing challenges is membership recruitment and retention. But there are numerous resources available to assit leaders, including consulting staff experts.

Management

The success of the AIAS is a direct reflection of the success of the chapters. The AIAS is only as strong as its chapters. In this area, you will find resources for chapter leaders to improve chapter operations and increase membership.
